Foreigners need a work permit to be able to work legally in Thailand. Work permit is a legal document that asserts a foreigner’s position, job description and the Thai company he is working with. It can also be considered as a license to perform a job allowed for foreigners inside Thailand.
Unless they are granted a work permit, foreigners are not allowed to work in the Kingdom. If you intend to work in Thailand, you must hold the correct type of visa to be eligible to apply for a work permit.
A non-immigrant visa is required to secure a work permit application and has to be obtained before entering Thailand.
Once you have a non-immigrant visa, the work permit process may begin. The application is processed in the Ministry of Labor office.
To be eligible, you will need:
- A non-immigrant visa or a resident visa
- An employer who will provide necessary documents for work permit
- A not prohibited occupation for foreigners
